Convert inches to centimetres (cm)

Convert measurements, sets of dimensions or lists from inches to centimetres, and vice versa.

Input type
Input unit: inches (in) Enter one to three measurements, such as 5 7/8 or 12 × 8.
Result
14.92 cm
Exact factor: 1 in = 2.54 cm · Rounded to 2 decimal places
Switching modes keeps the input in each mode. Results do not replace the text in either input field.
Conversion direction
Any unit you enter must match the selected direction. Changing direction does not change the input text.
The selected number of decimal places is shown, including trailing zeros.
Conversion rules and supported formats

One inch is exactly 2.54 centimetres. To convert inches to centimetres, multiply by 2.54. To convert centimetres to inches, divide by 2.54.

Fractions are calculated without intermediate rounding. For example, 5 7/8 inches is 14.9225 cm. With four decimal places, the result is shown as 14.9225 cm; with two, it is shown as 14.92 cm.

Only the displayed result is rounded, to the selected number of decimal places. If the first discarded digit is 5 or greater, the last retained digit is increased by one. For example, 0.635 is shown as 0.64 to two decimal places. With no decimal places, 2.5 is shown as 3. Trailing zeros are kept.

“No rounding needed” means that the displayed result has not been rounded. Every value in a set must meet this condition. It does not mean that the accuracy of the original measurement has been checked. A small positive value may be displayed as zero after rounding.

You can enter whole numbers, decimals with a point, fractions and mixed numbers. These fraction characters are also supported, on their own or next to a whole number: ½, ⅓, ⅔, ¼, ¾, ⅕, ⅖, ⅗, ⅘, ⅙, ⅚, ⅛, ⅜, ⅝ and ⅞. For example, 5½ means five and a half.

Units are optional. For inches, use, for example, in, inch, inches, ", ″, pulgada, pulgadas or pulg. For centimetres, use, for example, cm, cms, centímetro, centímetros, centimetro or centimetros. Variants are also recognised: ” and two consecutive apostrophes ('') for inches, and a single full stop after units written as letters (in., pulg., cm.). Units are not case-sensitive, and spaces at the start and end of each measurement are ignored. Any unit you enter must match the selected conversion direction.

Separate up to three measurements with ×, x, X or *, or use the words by or por with spaces on either side. Each measurement is converted separately and stays in the same position. The × symbol between results does not indicate an area or volume calculation.

Negative numbers and mixed feet-and-inches measurements are not supported. The whole-number part of a measurement can contain up to 12 digits. Commas can separate thousands in the whole-number part: use one to three digits with no leading zero in the first group, then exactly three digits in each following group. For example, enter 1,234.5. Results are shown without thousands separators.

In “Multiple lines” mode, blank lines are skipped and the line numbering reflects the positions in the original text. An error on one line does not remove results for the others. The interpreted value is shown as a whole number or a fraction without rounding; the converted value uses the selected decimal places.

Frequently asked questions
How do I convert inches to centimetres?
Multiply the measurement in inches by 2.54. For example, 12 inches is 30.48 cm. The conversion factor is exact.
What is 5 7/8 inches in centimetres?
5 7/8 inches converts to 14.9225 cm. The default setting shows 14.92 cm, rounded to two decimal places. Choose four decimal places to show the value without rounding.
Can I enter 5′8″ as a height?
No. This notation combines feet and inches, which the converter does not support. Enter the full measurement in one unit and choose the matching direction. Do not replace 5′8″ with 5.8 inches; they are different measurements.
Can I convert a list of product dimensions?
Yes. Choose “Multiple lines” and enter one measurement or a set such as 12 × 8 on each line. The table keeps the original input, shows how each valid line was interpreted and marks any errors. Each dimension is converted separately; no area or volume is calculated.
How do I convert centimetres back to inches?
Choose “Centimetres → inches”. The converter divides the input by 2.54. For example, 25.4 cm is exactly 10 inches. One centimetre is approximately 0.393701 inches to six decimal places, so that displayed value is rounded.
Does the converted size confirm that a screw or part will fit?
No. A unit conversion does not check manufacturing tolerances, thread specifications or compatibility between parts. Check the product specifications for the intended use.

Privacy on this page

Calculations run in your browser. The measurements you enter are not sent to the server or saved in browser storage. Reloading the page returns the inputs to their initial state.

To understand how the page is used and to improve the service, this page sends semku’s own usage statistics and automatic error reports. They go only to the dedicated endpoint under semku.com/api/telemetry/v1/. They are not used for advertising or third-party tracking.

The usage statistics include stages of use (such as starting an operation or requesting a copy), the times they occur and fixed identifiers that distinguish the page and feature. They do not include the measurements you enter, the results shown or the text you copy. Inputs are not sent as hashes or as size categories either. The full URL and search terms are not sent.

Operations and sessions are distinguished by randomly generated identifiers. In the browser, these identifiers exist only in temporary memory and are not written to cookies or browser storage. No identification based on cookies or combined device characteristics is used.

Error reports contain the error type, code and time, and, where available, a registered program-source identifier with line and column numbers. The error message text and stack traces are not sent. Usage statistics and error reports also carry the site identifier, the deployment version and a random record identifier. For access records such as IP addresses, browser signals (User-Agent Client Hints), region and language, see the paragraph below.

The feedback form sends the rating you chose and the text you typed in the free-text field when you press the send button. The form also sends a random ID that distinguishes the submission, along with the page, site, deployment version and type of request. There are no fields for your name, email address or phone number, and the values you enter are not attached automatically. Before sending your text, the widget removes leading and trailing whitespace and, if you selected a rating, adds [+1] or [-1] at the start; it makes no other changes to your text. After receipt, the collector standardizes line endings and removes leading and trailing whitespace. Please do not enter personal data, passwords, authentication keys or payment details.

To improve the service, we record the country and state/province-level region at the time of your visit (an estimate based on the connecting network), which site you came from including the page path, and one display-language setting announced by your browser (for example, en-US). Location is kept to country and region only; no city or precise position is recorded. When you use the service, connection records, including your IP address, are automatically generated and retained to maintain service security and identify abnormal access. Cloudflare is the data processor for this site. Collection of this item is enabled only after this notice is published; we do not collect it retrospectively for use before collection is enabled. Query strings such as search terms are not recorded, and neither is the full list of preferred languages or the raw request headers. Collection of this information is currently disabled and will only be enabled after this notice is published. If we enable collection, we will collect and use signals your browser reports about its type and version, along with an indication of whether automation tools are being used, to identify bots. These browser signals are estimates and do not conclusively identify your browser's type or version or whether automation tools are being used. We do not collect it retrospectively for use before collection is enabled. The raw User-Agent request header is not recorded. These records are per visit only and use no identifier that links one visit to another. Recording starts only with visits after this notice is published and is not applied retroactively to earlier visits. The region and the referring site have been recorded since 2026-09-20; the display language since 2026-09-24. Browser signals are not recorded yet.

Separately, when you visit the site, the hosting provider records your IP address, the time of the request and user-agent information about your browser and device in Cloudflare Pages’ standard access logs.
