Convert measurements, sets of dimensions or lists from inches to centimetres, and vice versa.
Switching modes keeps the input in each mode. Results do not replace the text in either input field.“Inc to cm” refers to inches-to-centimetres conversion. In the converter, use “in” for inches; “inc” is not recognised as a unit.
One inch is exactly 2.54 centimetres. To convert inches to centimetres, multiply by 2.54. To convert centimetres to inches, divide by 2.54.
Fractions are calculated without intermediate rounding. For example, 5 7/8 inches is 14.9225 cm. With four decimal places, the result is shown as 14.9225 cm; with two, it is shown as 14.92 cm.
Only the displayed result is rounded, to the selected number of decimal places. If the first discarded digit is 5 or greater, the last retained digit is increased by one. For example, 0.635 is shown as 0.64 to two decimal places. With no decimal places, 2.5 is shown as 3. Trailing zeros are kept.
“No rounding needed” means that the displayed result has not been rounded. Every value in a set must meet this condition. It does not mean that the accuracy of the original measurement has been checked. A small positive value may be displayed as zero after rounding.
You can enter whole numbers, decimals with a point or comma, fractions such as 7/8 and mixed numbers such as 5 7/8 or 5-7/8. These fraction characters are also supported, on their own or next to a whole number: ½, ⅓, ⅔, ¼, ¾, ⅕, ⅖, ⅗, ⅘, ⅙, ⅚, ⅛, ⅜, ⅝ and ⅞. For example, 5½ means 5 1/2.
Units are optional. For inches, use, for example, in, inch, inches, ", ″, pulgada, pulgadas or pulg. For centimetres, use, for example, cm, cms, centímetro, centímetros, centimetro or centimetros. Variants are also recognised: ” and two consecutive apostrophes ('') for inches, and a single full stop after units written as letters (in., pulg., cm.). Units are not case-sensitive, and spaces at the start and end of each measurement are ignored. Any unit you enter must match the selected conversion direction.
Separate up to three measurements with ×, x, X or *, or use the words by or por with spaces on either side. Each measurement is converted separately and stays in the same position. The × symbol between results does not indicate an area or volume calculation.
Negative numbers, thousands separators and mixed feet-and-inches measurements are not supported. The whole-number part of a measurement can contain up to 12 digits. Results are shown without thousands separators.
In “Multiple lines” mode, blank lines are skipped and the line numbering reflects the positions in the original text. An error on one line does not remove results for the others. The interpreted value is shown as a whole number or a fraction without rounding; the converted value uses the selected decimal places.
